A few weeks ago, my wife Rosie and I had great fun at Suzette and David’s wedding. I had to share this experience because it was one of those days that reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. From the breathtaking location to the heartfelt moments, every detail of their wedding was pure magic—and Rosie and I felt incredibly lucky for working this hard and earning the opportunity.
But first things first, I have to give whole credit where it’s due—this entire wedding shoot. When it comes to choosing the perfect spot for a wedding, no one does it better than my wife, Rosie. She isn’t just an incredible wife and a mother, but also an extraordinary wedding planner. She just knows how to do it the right way.
When we had the call with Suzette and David, listening to their vision and imagining what we could do differently, we knew that this Cancun wedding was going to be something extraordinary. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned in my years as a wedding photographer, it’s that the right location can make all the difference.
Cancun in Mexico is one of those places that feels like it was made for weddings. The turquoise waters, the soft white sand, and the golden sunsets—it felt like nature itself was showing off.
Suzette and David agreed with the spot we suggested for their big day. It was Mahekal Resort, a luxurious Cancun wedding resort right on the beach. The ceremony took place under a beautiful arch adorned with tropical blooms, and the ocean waves provided the most serene backdrop.
As a photographer, I couldn’t have asked for better weather that day—honestly, it was like the universe was on our side. The skies were cloudy yet clear, and the wind made the waves dance along the shore. Nothing but pure perfection—a dream Cancun wedding destination.
Too much sunlight would’ve had the bride and groom squinting, making it tough to capture those genuine, wide-eyed smiles. But no, everything was just right. Even nature seemed to be in on the celebration, with the trees and bushes looking fresh and vibrant, creating the most beautiful backdrop for every picture we clicked. Certainly, Rosie and I couldn’t have been more grateful for how it all came together.
Suzette and David were one of those couples who just radiated happiness and vibrancy. It wasn’t a grand, cinematic moment that we had to wait for to capture the perfect wedding pictures.
No slow motion, no dramatic music, no planned poses—just two lovers, a magical beach, a perfect wedding destination in Cancun to exchange vows, and the kind of love that didn’t need any embellishment.
From the moment they stepped onto the sand, it was clear that the day was about them and the bond they had built. The beach, with its soft sand and gentle breeze, felt like it was made just for them. Rosie and I were there, capturing it all, but even we couldn’t help feeling like we were witnessing something truly special and relatable.
And then there was the dance after their beach palace wedding in Cancun. Not the choreographed, perfectly timed first dance you often see at weddings.
Their love story reflected the perfect balance of wild and steady at the same time.
This wasn’t just a Cancun wedding. It was a truly perfect celebration of love in its purest form—raw, real, and utterly beautiful.
After the ceremony, the party moved to a beautifully decorated reception area. The dance floor was the heart of the night, glowing under a canopy of twinkling lights that made everything sparkle. It felt like the stars had come down to celebrate with Suzette and David.
When the first dance began, the room seemed to hold its breath. Suzette and David moved together like they were the only two people in the world. The way they looked at each other—it was as if their love had its own light, brighter than anything else in the room. Rosie and I were behind the lens, but again, we couldn’t help but pause for a moment.
Then, as the music shifted, the dance floor came alive. Friends and family joined in, laughing, spinning, and letting loose in a way that only happens at weddings. Yes, the energy was electric.
Rosie and I were in our element, moving around the dance floor, capturing every laugh, every twirl, every moment of pure joy. But there was one moment that stopped us in our tracks. Suzette and David, surrounded by their loved ones, were dancing in the center of it all. The way they smiled, the way they held each other—it was so full of love and happiness that it hit us right in the heart.
I’ll admit- I got a little emotional. Rosie did, too.
Because it had us laughing, crying, dancing, and not just clicking pictures—it was about being part of Suzette and David’s Cancun wedding and their lives. They told us, “What you did for us couldn’t have been done by anyone else. It’s like you peeked into our dreams and brought them to life.” Hearing that made me proud of what I do and reminded me why I love it so much.
As a photographer, I’ve been fortunate to capture countless weddings. But there’s something about destination weddings that feels extra special. Maybe it’s the change of scenery or the way people let loose and truly enjoy themselves. Whatever it is, Suzette and David’s wedding had it in spades.
Rosie and I felt incredibly honored to be part of their day. It wasn’t just about taking pictures—it was about telling their story. And what a beautiful story it was. It’s one I’ll never forget.
